The shortage is projected to reach 147200 beds, by the 2029-2030 academic year from 76,300 in 2025-2926, according to a June report by Jones Lang LaSalle Ltd. (JLL). About 16,300 beds were in the pipeline as of end-April.

Hongkong Land is seeking to invest in mixed-use properties featuring high-end office, retail, and hospitality spaces in Japan, but it's hard for the company to secure suitable properties and co-investment partners amid the country's challenging real estate investment cycle.
〈RTHK News, Sept 1,2026〉Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel will be closed starting from October 12 for refurbishments aimed at better serving visitors’ needs.
The resort hotel, which started checking in guests just over two decades ago when the theme park opened, offers 400 rooms and three restaurants.
Anita Lai, vice president of communications and public affairs, said on Friday that the hotel would retain its “classic storytelling charm” following the facelift.
“We have noticed that many tourists’ demands and preferences have changed. In particular, they look for a more immersive experience,” she said.
